Abstract Introduction Group and save (G&S) testing is often performed prior to emergency appendicectomy. However, there are no standard national guidelines regarding the routine use of preoperative G&S. We a Trust Audit review need for G&S appendicectomy in order recommend new guidelines. Method Retrospective all patients that underwent at Chelsea Westminster Hospital between October 2019 March 2020. evaluated existing literature on blood transfusion rate Results One hundred seventy-three (female 56%, median age 26 years) (94% laparoscopic, 6% open). thirty-four (77%) had valid none received perioperatively.
